Which areas does the Let's Boost internship programme cover?
Our interns can improve their knowledge in the following fields:
- website development;
- web design;
- project management (within the developer or the digital marketing team);
- digital marketing (online advertising, copywriting, graphic design and video production community management, search engine optimisation).
What kind of interns we’ll be looking for depends on the current needs of the company. Usually, we have intern positions available in several departments. In most cases, we’re on the hunt for developers and digital marketing specialists.
Who is eligible for the Let's Boost internship programme?
The Let’s Boost programme is open to all students, from those who would only like to broaden their horizons during their studies to applicants who are required to complete an internship programme as part of their curriculum. We must also stress that we offer equal opportunities to boys and girls – in all fields.
Is it possible for my internship training to cover two fields?
We haven’t offered an internship in this form yet. The reason lies in the fact that the 3-month training period is too short to allow for training in more than one field.
But hey, this doesn’t mean that you can’t acquire a diverse set of skills while staying with us! At Optiweb, we strive to constantly improve our knowledge, which is why we organise many workshops on different topics. Among our lecturers are some of the most senior company members as well as outside experts.
Our CEO Miha and CSO David often give us some tips for efficient networking or meeting management, our PMs uncover the secrets behind their mad organisational skills while our marketing team specialists teach us how to determine one’s target market and successfully promote a certain product or service. This way, you can expand your knowledge in several fields in a blink of an eye! ;)
I'm really excited about your internship programme, but I don't know how to make coffee. Do I stand a chance? :)
No worries, our interns aren’t required to make coffee as we leave this task to our trusty coffee machine. ;)
What does the life of a Let's Boost intern look like?
During your first week, we’ll do our best to make you feel at home. We’ll help you to familiarize yourself with our way of work and our company culture. You will learn about our main departments and their core tasks. We really want to give you the best possible insight into our company processes right from the get-go, thus enabling you to quickly learn the ropes.
After the initial week, you’ll join the team in which you will work for the next 3 months as an intern. From this point onward, your work will be monitored by a senior team member or the team lead, who will also become your mentor. This person will help you with the first steps and ensure that the whole training process is well-structured. This means that you will perform certain tasks together with your mentor while also having to tackle some challenges on your own.
Should you require more support with certain tasks, your team will be happy to help you out. On the other hand, we’ll leave you some more freedom when working on things you can do on your own. From time to time, we like to leave the interns to their own devices to see how far uncle Google and their own inventiveness can get them. :)
Your mentor will carefully monitor your progress. After each task, you’ll review your work together to see what you can improve.
What if I have no actual experience ... ? Am I even a suitable candidate?
Of course you are! Normally, our interns are not required to have previous working experience. Instead, we’re looking for people who will get along well with the rest of the team, are hungry for new skills and aren’t afraid of new challenges. What’s more, every candidate that makes it to the second round of the selection process also has to pass a test in the form of a short task. This way, you’ll have at least some working experience before joining us. ;)
What does the selection process look like?
We start the process by reviewing all applications, choosing the most appropriate candidates and conducting initial interviews with them (in person or over the phone). After the first interview, the candidates are given a short task designed to test their skills. We then review the task results, invite the best candidates for another, more detailed interview, and decide who to welcome as our new intern.
What is your perfect intern like?
Our favourite interns are those who can quickly integrate themselves in the team and embrace our company culture. If we could simply order our candidate in one of our online stores, we’d definitely first check the digital enthusiast category. We’d also check if this store offers any curious, proactive and inventive individuals. ;)
As we are focussed on web solutions, we think it’s really important that you are interested in online trends and digital technologies. We also appreciate individuals who are eager to learn and not afraid to act on their own initiative instead of just waiting for the instructions of their team leads.
We also love to see interns take an active role in our daily projects, using their creative ideas, unique views and outside-the-box solutions to contribute to our business success. Do you think you fit the bill? Perfect, we’re a match!
Do I need the student status to be eligible for an internship?
Yes, every intern needs a valid student status to be eligible for an internship programme.
When does the Let's boost internship start and how long does it last?
Usually, there are two time slots available for an internship, one in spring (between March and May) and the other one in summer (between July and September). The programme lasts for three months and is carried out from Monday to Friday, following an 8-hour working day.
However, don’t worry if you also have other activities planned during this time as we offer flexible working hours. Every intern is thus free to decide on their own work schedule while remote work is also available. During the internship period, you can even get some days off;). However, we really wish you to spend as much time as possible together with us, thus really using every opportunity to learn and grow.
Is Let's Boost a paid internship?
Yes, we offer a paid internship. Usually, your salary is comprised of three parts:
- the salary required by the law (we offer the highest possible internship salary, which is approximately 172,00 €),
- reimbursement for transportation and,
- lunch costs.
Can I get a full-time job after my internship period is over?
Those interns that prove themselves are usually more than welcome to stay with us after their internship period is over. Besides a full-time arrangement, we also offer student or contract work. At the end of the day, one of the main purposes of the Let’s Boost programme is to attract potential new coworkers that are willing to grow and develop their skills among us.
However, as much as we wish to turn every successful intern into our employee, we must also take into account the needs of the company and the amount of work in a particular period. This means that we can’t always offer an intern a position within our team.
But hey, even if we can’t offer you a job right away, it’s not game over for you! If you do really great as an intern, you can be sure we’ll remember you and won’t hesitate to immediately call you when we need an extra pair of hands.
How do I know that I'm working well? Do I receive any feedback?
Feedback is our middle name as we always make sure employees get tons of it – on a daily basis as well as in a more structured form.
On a daily basis, you can expect to get regular feedback from your mentor, who will check up on your work. Additionally, your work will also be assessed on a monthly basis (structured feedback). This means that at the end of each month, your mentor will fill in a special assessment form, describing your progress and commenting on your strengths as well as skills you need to improve. You will then discuss this assessment with your mentor and our HR manager. Sounds serious? Don’t worry, it’s far less scary as it sounds! ;)
The purpose of the monthly assessment is not to make you scared for dear life. We only want to let you know what you do very well and which skills you need to work on to be even better. We make sure to always discuss the feedback in a laid-back atmosphere. Besides, our mentors have a great sense of humour that will prevent you from even thinking about being nervous.
What will I remember most as an Intern at Optiweb?
When we ask interns what they liked the most at Optiweb, we get many different answers. But most of them agree that they haven’t only learned a lot but also that working with us feels great. This is because Optiweb employees don’t see interns just as temporary assistants but treat them as regular team members, helping them to feel accepted and respected.
During your time as an intern, you’ll therefore also be invited to our informal events (like picnics or parties), where you’ll be able to bond with coworkers and get to know them better.
As our goal is (whenever possible) to keep you in the team even after the three-month internship, we’ll do our best to help you enjoy your time with us and feel motivated every day. Of course, we won’t be able to resist occasionally playing a prank or two on you, but we’re sure you won’t be too angry. ;)
Are you up for a challenge?
Do you crave new knowledge that will make your entry into the digital world a piece of cake? If your fingers are tingling, it’s the first hint to sign up!
When looking for internship I chose Optiweb because I got a very personal and positive response to my application. On my first day I was greeted by the best team, as I attended the Friday’s Wazzup meeting. I received a lot of opportunities to prove myself and also a lot of actual current projects. The design team immediately accepted me as part of the team, they were more than happy to show me all the tools and they turned me in the right direction. I was happy that I could actually help the team and relieve them of some of their burden. I received a lot of great experiences, acquaintances and, at the end, also the possibility of further cooperation. Optiweb’s internship is perfect for all who wish to work in an amazing team, learn a lot and contribute to the company.
